Miniature Sunset Oil Paintings Video

Sunset Miniature Treasure paintings
4"x4" oil on panel

It's been over a month since I last posted. Due to family matters I have been travelling back and forth to the UK and I have had very little time to paint over the last 2 to 3 months.

I returned home yesterday and I have been playing with Windows movie maker. OK so it is not a movie, but I think this is an interesting way to showcase a series of work, What do you think? Is this better/worse/no different than showing the photos one after another in a blog?

Kaleidoscope Trees Oil Strudy

Kaleidoscope Trees Oil Study
18x24cm oil on canvas panel

The second sketch of my stand of Provence pines trying to stay loose and suggestive. Inspired by my previous gouache sketch (see here) I mainly used a brush on this one, keeping the strokes 'clean' and not mixing the paint too much. I love the texture the brush gave - see these close ups

I really like the effect I am achieving here, I'm calling it modern imprresionism or should I call it 'almost expressionism'?.

My next version will be larger and painted with a palette knife. So stay tuned for the next post. (I promise not to leave it for so long before my next post).

How it may look framed or on a mini easel

Abandoned Lavender Field
Day 6, 30 days hath September
18x24cm (approx 7"x10")
oil on canvas panel
Palette Knife Painting
Available in my Etsy shop

Day 6 of the challenge. As you know, every June we go to visit the lavender fields here in Provence. Occassionally there is what appears to be an abandoned field amongst the pristine rows of lavender. They really stand out as they are such a contrast to the normally sedate rows.

Painting exhibition in Le Rouret

i am part of a group of local artists called "Peintres dans la rue" (Painters in the street). During the summer months we exhibit our paintings in the streets of the perched villages that this area is known for. It is always a wonderful backdrop for the paintings. Yesterday we exhibited in Le Rouret. It was a beautiful day and the plane trees in the square provided lots of shade.
On Saturday we go to Opio.

Poppy Meadows Provence #1 knife painting - SOLD

Poppy Meadow oil painting by Marion Hedger
Poppy Meadows Provence oil painting
Poppy Meadows Provence #1
15x20cm oil on boxed canvas
Can be hung without a frame.
THIS PAINTING IS NOW SOLD
The poppy field in the Haut Alpes are a lovely sight in spring and early summer. This is a sister painting to Poppy Meadows Provence #2. I used a palette knife and oil paint with a small amount of liquin mixed in to aid the drying. The liquin also gave the paint a nice consistency suitable for the palette knives. Getting a sense of distance is the hardest part, with the mountains just popping up in the background.
