SOLD CONTACT ME to commission a similar piece    Soft Edges Obtaining soft edges with a palette knife is difficult, so I first painted the peonies followed by the background. Where I wanted soft edges, I swiped palette knife across the edge to soften it and mix the paint. Where necessary I added extra paint on the knife before swiping going from the petal into the background and sometimes vice versa. I posted the photo of this painting in the room setting and then realised I had not posted it here in my blog. So a little late, but here is a reminder of spring.


Each year I place some daffodil bulbs in a terracotta pot and hope they flower earlier than the ones in the garden. I bought this pot inside and placed it against the window with the light streaming through. I always feel that, living in France, I'm at a disadvantage because we do not have interior window sills and I cannot get the true feeling of the flowers on a window sill which is a great prop for container plants.

Garden Art Photo Inspiration and WIP

April until June is the nicest time in my garden - first the daffodils start nodding their heads, quickly followed by the early irises and tulips. After tulips come the poppies and then the bearded irises. The colours range from the yellows of the daffs, the reds of the tulips and poppies, through to the purples and blues of the irises.

At the moment the pinks and reds in the form of climbing roses are taking center stage and I took these to images as my current painting inspiration.

The top image a teaser for the pink rose painting I am working on at the moment. It's nearly finished so all will be revealed tomorrow.
