This is the third study in the series, painted on a pink ground and using a large brush. I left the brush strokes showing and tried to use the mantr "a brush stroke laid is a brush stroke layed", that is NO FIDDLING. This is harder to do than you think. Even now I still have to resist the temptation to add more. As a study I'm trying to leave it alone. Although I quite like the effect, I am not sure I could do this on a larger piece, but it is the first step along the way.

The other two paintings can be found HERE and HERE

I love the purple and yellow ochre colours of the provence landscape in July. The lavender and sunflower fields with a backdrop of the mountains are made to be painted. I have deliberately kept this loose with no real detail to try to capture the overall feel of the countryside.
