Misty Morning Rocks Commission Painting

Misty Morning Rocks
by Marion Hedger
6x8 oil on box canvas

This is the third painting commission of the rocks. See the other two paintings here and here.

The client likes this one the best. It is the one I found most difficult as I am not known for my subdued paintings LOL.

This is a sister painting for a client who bought the original painting. He requested two more paintings in different light. I painted 3 paintings all of which he likes and I will wait to see which ones he'll purchase.

Wave - Water and Rocks Day 4, 30 paintings in 30 days

The Wave palette knife painting
Oil on box canvas
15x20cm x 2cm deep (6"x8")
Day 4, Jan 2015 30 in 30

Not pleased with this one at all! I debated on whether or not to show it.

I told my husband I need to go somewhere exotic with sun and sea so I can study the waves! Here in the med, there are not many waves to study. Oh we get storms but who wants to go out in a storm? I am obviously a fair weather painter.

Happy New Year - another 30 paintings in 30 days challenge, Day 1

2014 has flown by. It was a good year where I gained more confidence in my art and as a consequence matured. I want to wish all of you, my artists friends, collectors and followers a Very Happy New Year. I am ready to face new challenges in 2015 and continue along the path of improvement. As a start, I am participating in another 30 paintings in 30 days challenge. With preparing for the holidays and being back in England for the celebrations I haven't painted for a while, so it will be good to get back into the swing of things.

30 in 30 Theme
Rumour has it, that it is good to pick a theme and size so the exhibit at the end of the month has a cohesive feel. I am not very good at sticking to themes as my mind tends to roam and I like to experiment! But I am trying to discipline myself, so will be going with the theme of rocks and/or water both of which I need to improve upon. It might be just rocks, just water (sea or lakes) or a combination of both. The format with be 6"x6", 5"x7" or 6"x8". We shall see how long this lasts before I go back to my usual 7"x10"

Perfect Cove oil painting, Day 14, 30 days hath September challenge

Perfect Cove oil painting
18x24cm (approx 7"x10")
Oil on canvas panel
Day 14, 30 days hath September challenge

International shipping included.
This view is a little further down the road from where the coastal pines were.
It is a lovely stretch of road winding along the headland between Cannes and St Raphael and with the Esterel in the background.
Red rocks and azure seas
The rocks are really red, and the change in the landscape from the white limestone of the Alpes Maritime is remarkable. The red stone is used for walls and building and gives a deep terracotta look to the area. The contrast between the red and the azure seas is a painter's dream.

Black and White plus one acrylic painting

Abstract seascape, black and white plus one by Marion Hedger
Acrylic and gel medium, palette knife
A4 on black card
Contact me about this or other paintings HERE

I missed the deadline on the September challenge from Daily Painters International Gallery of painting in black and white plus one colour, as I was away on hols and forgot to post my paintings before I went away.
I used acrylic because I do not have a black oil paint and I could not achieve a nice black by mixing. I also decided to try two additional things as well as the black and white challenge, (I should learn to take one step at a time LOL), palette knife painting and abstracting.
I had a vague idea to do a landscape but with nothing else in mind I started playing with the paint which I had mixed with gel medium to give it more body. Somehow this turned into an abstract seascape, hence the use of the blue. I used thick paint on the palette knife and mixed the greys on the painting. I was quite pleased with this way this little exercise turned out and painted two more, which I will post in a later painting.
