Available by auction on Daily Paintworks see HERELast weeks weekly challenge on Daily Paintwork was 'Soooky Trees'. I have been meaning to paint the olive trees in the garden at the Renoir Museum in Cagnes-sur-Mer for a while now and this was the perfect opportunity.
Renoir spent the last 12 years of his life in the villa that is now the museum. The garden has a lovely view of Haut Cagnes, the old hilltop village, as painted by Cezanne and many others. The garden has a magnificent olive grove with several gnarled olives that make for perfect painting subjects. Going by the girth of the trees, they must be several hundreds of years old.
