SUNSHINE SMILES Throwback Thursday

Sunshine Smiles Miniature Treasure painting
4x4" on gessoed panel.
Painted with a palette knife.
SOLD

Sunflowers are one of my favourite flowers, although they are not as easy to paint as you may think.  Getting the right amount of detail and looseness right is a juggling act. I like the way this one turned out, with lots of layers and textures.

How it would look framed in a floating frame

I didn't have much time today so I started on some miniature abstracts. Still need some work and I have to be careful not to make them too busy. I plan to do several and post them in my Etsy shop in February.

Ladling the paint...

Miniature Sunset Oil Paintings Video

Sunset Miniature Treasure paintings
4"x4" oil on panel

It's been over a month since I last posted. Due to family matters I have been travelling back and forth to the UK and I have had very little time to paint over the last 2 to 3 months.

I returned home yesterday and I have been playing with Windows movie maker. OK so it is not a movie, but I think this is an interesting way to showcase a series of work, What do you think? Is this better/worse/no different than showing the photos one after another in a blog?

Day 6, 30 paintings in 30 days January 2014 challenge

ACEO 3 - Abstract 1 miniature art
2.25x3.25 inch
Acrylic monoprint on 300g watercolour paper

Available for purchase 12€, including postage

In December I had a brief foray into monoprinting, something I had never tried before. It wasn't very successful as I didn't really know what to do. I used acrylic on a piece of glass and mixed the paint about making marks using a stick for some of the prints. Some were more successful than other, but I need to work more on the thickness of the paint and the type of paper.

On some I obviously used too much paint resulting in 'ridges' on the print. On a second look, I felt these ridges gave some nice textures. I took out my ACEO template out and placed it over the monoprint in various places. The results were surprising, with some really nice compositions appearing. You can guess what happened next - so be prepared to see more of these monoprint ACEOs.

Landscape Impressions Gouache Paintings - Group Display

Here are all my current landscape impressions grouped together, which I displayed at an exhibition featuring art by members of the 'ASSOCIATION PEINTRES DANS LA RUE' (Painters in the street), a local art group who display at various venues around the Alpes Maritimes during the summer months.
Gouache Abstract Landscape Paintings on canvas board
The paintings have been mounted on MDF
to fit into an 18x24cm standard frame.
All the paintings have been varnished with acrylic varnish
for protection allowing them to be framed without glass.
